doctor_rose_las. (Last Author Standing, to clarify for those like myself who never understand any of these crazy fandom goings on.)
Somehow, when I signed up for this madness the 1,000 word limit didn't quite register. In retrospect, I should have known that a word limit of any sort was a Bad Idea. It works against two of the fundamental facts of my nature:
1. I will never use two words when ten will do, and
2. If someone tells me to do something, I will nod politely and then do the exact opposite.
My mother has always described this as "genetically-ingrained contrariness." (From my father's side, of course.) Maybe I could have written a short fic, but only if you'd asked me to write a long one.
And yet, I managed to keep it to 1,001 words, exactly. Not including the title.
I am very proud.
