What a laugh!! I can SO picture Rose reacting that way at this point in her ordeal. Fantastic chapter.
I have to say, honestly, the first time Rose looked back and saw the "monster" I swear I thought it said mantis...and so I was having quite a time figuring out why it was grey with giant flippers (and had a moment of panic when my biology degree failed me and I somehow couldn't understand why I didn't remember learning that mantis appendages were called flippers...but then I re-read the monster's entrance paragraph, and suddenly it all fell into place :)
