after all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.
I have had a simply awful day, and to cheer myself I have completed - hurrah! - this Harry Potter meme. Stolen from
bornofstars.
List the books in order from your favorite to your least favorite.
1. Half-Blood Prince
2. Prisoner of Azkaban
3. Deathly Hallows
4. Order of the Phoenix
5. Goblet of Fire
6. Sorcerer's Stone
7. Chamber of Secrets
Half-Blood Prince and Prisoner of Azkaban are always battling for the number one spot in my Harry Potter heart, but Half-Blood Prince wins because of all the Dumbledore.
List the movies in order from your favorite to your least favorite.
1. Half-Blood Prince
2. Chamber of Secrets
3. Order of the Phoenix
4. Prisoner of Azkaban
5. Sorcerer's Stone
6. Goblet of Fire
I have no idea why I love Chamber of Secrets so much in movie form. It is a Christopher Columbus mystery.
Favorite chapter from your favorite book?
I have no idea. All the ones that include Remus Lupin?
Top 5 favorite characters?
1. Remus Lupin
2. Albus Dumbledore
3. Ron Weasley
4. Hermione Granger
5. Hagrid, Tonks, Ginny Weasley, Arthur Weasley, Molly Weasley, Fred Weasley, George Weasley, Percy Weasley, Fleur, Dobby, Kreacher, Sirius, Neville, Luna, and MINERVA FREAKIN' MCGONAGALL.
And Harry too, of course.
Five least favorite characters?
1. Dolores Umbridge makes my skin crawl in the very best possible way.
2. Fudge infuriates me.
3. As does Scrimgeour.
4. Rita Skeeter, I feel, is self-explanatory.
5. Cedric Diggory. I don't know why. He just bugs me.
Favorite member of the Golden Trio?
If I have to choose, I will choose Ron. But only if I have to.
Favorite family?
The Weasleys, obviously. But then, the Blacks are fascinating as well. Between them they probably supply the majority of the main characters in the series.
Favorite antagonist?
I kind of adore Voldemort? I mean, for an epic, neigh-unstoppable Big Bad, he's actually rather interesting. And has dry sense of humor that I quite enjoy.
Favorite Death Eater?
I feel like I've been neglecting Snape so far, which is unfair. He'll do well for this spot.
What character are you most like?
I have no idea. Tonks, probably? More her than anyone else, I should think.
Three favorite spells?
1. Episky.
2. Alohomora.
3. Aguamenti.
Three favorite potions?
1.
2.
3.
Um. Clearly I wasn't paying close enough attention during my potions lessons. I don't think I have favorites.
Favorite Non-Hogwarts magical building?
The Burrow.
Favorite Diagon Alley shop?
Ollivander's and Weasley's Wizarding Weezes, of course.
Favorite Hogsmeade Shop?
Three Broomsticks.
Favorite Unforgivable Curse?
Crucio is excellently disturbing.
Favorite mode of wizard transportation?
Broom.
Favorite Weasley?
RONALD.
Favorite Order Member?
REMUS.
Favorite DA Member?
NEVILLE AND LUNA.
Favorite pet?
Crookshanks.
Favorite Hogwarts room?
Great Hall.
Favorite Hogwarts Professor?
Minerva McGonagall. And Remus Lupin. AND HAGRID.
(I am not very good at this meme, I think.)
Favorite non-human Hogwarts resident?
Dobby the Dobster. Dob-er-rama.
Favorite Tri-Wizard Champion?
Harry? I do like Fleur, though she's at her best bickering with Mrs. Weasley.
Favorite House-Elf?
Kreacher rocks my socks (though I know he would not want them, filthy Muggle that I am) but it is Dobby who holds my heart.
And my socks.
Favorite Wizard sweet?
Chocolate Frogs.
Favorite couple?
Lupin and Tonks. Ron and Hermione. Harry and Luna.
(Wait. What?)
Ginny. I'm sure I meant Harry and Ginny.
General Opinions:
Biggest surprise of the series?
Oh, Prisoner of Azkaban. It was your conclusion that truly introduced me to the wonderfulness that is the HP. I think I almost died during those five seconds when I thought Lupin was in cahoots with THE EVIL MADMAN SIRIS BLACK. The end of that book will always, always be my favorite part of the series.
Biggest letdown of the series?
Was there one? The epilogue was really rough for me the first time I read it, though now I like it just fine. At the time I was still going, "But... but...what happened after that?" But the story couldn't go on forever, and now I like the distance from previous events that the epilogue gives us. Life went on. You want to know what happened directly after the war? Go read fan fic. (Speaking of, is there good post-DH fic? I'd stopped reading HP fic by that time. Hmm.)
One character you wish lived?
REMUS. TONKS. THAT IS ALL.
(No. I'm at peace with their deaths. It breaks my heart, but in a oh storytelling, why are you so painful and beautiful sort of way.)
Moment that will always make you cry?
Harry digging Dobby's grave. Sirius' death. "Severus, please."
Your Patronus would be___?
A platypus. No, seriously.
Three things Amortentia would smell like to you.
French fries, ocean air, and Herbal Essences shampoo.
You would use Felix Felicis to___?
Have a really pleasant day.
Job you would most like to try?
I'd write for the Quibbler if Xenophilius would have me.
Ron/Hermione or Harry/Hermione?
Ron and Hermione. I think Harry and Hermione have a fascinating relationship, but it's never seemed romantic to me. To each his own, of course.
James/Lily or Snape/Lily?
Oh dear. I like things just as they played out -- James being an ass, but eventually growing into the sort of man Lily could love, and Severus being a lonely, sad child who grew up into a lonely, angry man. Snape made terrible choices, and through those choices first lost Lily's friendship and then cost her her life. And continued to be lonely, and angry, and did what needed to be done. And was a slimy git about it.
So. Both?
Are you going to go see Half-Blood Prince in theaters?
Three times, and counting.
Do you own the books/movies?
I do.
Have you ever played any of the video games?
What are these video games you speak of? Are they like Monopoly, but on television?
Do you think it would be cool to have a pet owl?
I think my dog might object.
How about a rat?
I've had a pet rat. He was lovely.
Have you ever listened to the soundtracks?
I haven't, but I'd love to get the Half-Blood Prince score.
Which house would you want to be in?
I've said for ages that I would be a Ravenclaw, but I've since been convinced otherwise. Which is just as well -- Hufflepuffs rock.
Do you like Draco?
I do. He's a rather fascinating character, particularly in the last two books. He's nowhere near my top ten, though.
Would you ever enter the Triwizard Tournament?
Absolutely not.
What class would be your favorite?
Charms or Astronomy. I'd be awful at Potions.
Do you think you would enjoy being a witch/wizard?
I don't think it would be that much different than being a Muggle. Magic can only do so much, after all.
ETA: I completely forgot to mention the most important thing that happened today -- LIFE ON MARS DVDS. THEY ARE MINE. AND NOT THAT AMERICAN CRAP - OH NO. I HAVE THE GENE FUCKING GENIE SITTING ON MY COFFEE TABLE, WRAPPED IN PLASTIC. WHAT THE FUCK UP.
