there are only two things I love in this world: everybody, and television.

So my computer is dead. I went through all the recommended stages of mourning (is pouting a stage? I think it must be) and have come out the other side a better, wiser person. My mother, in her infinite goodness, has lent me her shiny new PC that she never uses because "the mouse feels funny" which is code for "I'm just really sick of all the pouting." So I have a temporary replacement computer until I can buy a new one - which, of course, I'll only be able to do if I get a new job. A new job that pays about 12 times better than my old one. C'est la vie.

Thanks again, guys, for all your wonderful, supportive comments on my last, rather miserable entry. You guys were incredibly helpful on the job hunting, computer, and cheering up fronts, and I can't thank you enough.

On a happier note:

First: DEXTER. Oh my god, people. Seriously. I mean, I knew it was a good show, but I had NO IDEA how much I would love it. I've only seen the first two seasons (just about to start the third) and I'm speechless with adoration. Some of the best comic timing I've ever seen on television, I swear, and while Michael C Hall is simply amazing, it's the people around him - particularly Rita and Deb - who have really made me fall in love with the show. A strong ensemble cast is everything, it really is. It makes me giddy just thinking about it.

Second: WIRE IN THE BLOOD. Auntie Beeb, I have betrayed you and wandered into the foreign pastures of ITV. Listen to me, folks: if you have not seen this show, watch it now. It's all there on Netflix instant watch, and we sell it at mainstream retailers like Borders, so it's not that hard to get ahold of and you have no excuse. I think I may have discovered my ultimate ship in the beautiful dysfunctional BFFness of Dr. Tony Hill and DI Carol Jordon. Of course, after three wonderful series the show breaks my heart and switches over to a different female lead, who is probably perfectly nice but is not CAROL JORDON, and she is clearly the best part of the show (aside from Tony's rather adorable nose). Anyway, I am going to go hunting for the books tomorrow at Powell's, and I though I doubt there's much of a fandom I may very well write fic for them - that is the extent of my love.

GUYS. HE IS A CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST WHO TALKS TO HIMSELF AND OVER-IDENTIFIES WITH SERIAL KILLERS. SHE IS A BAD ASS DETECTIVE INSPECTOR WITH A NO-NONSENSE ATTITUDE AND A CAT NAMED NELSON. THEY FIGHT CRIME.

In other news: I have finally caught up on Lost, and just in time. I have never had a bad thing to say about this show, honestly. I watched it all at once summer before last, and I think it really benefits from that sort of viewing experience. A lot of people say they lost patience with it, felt like it was going nowhere, but I've never had that feeling. There is only awesomeness, my undying love of Sayid, and the beautiful bulbousness of Ben's eyes. (Yes, they are my two favorite characters, why do you ask?)

Now I am going to watch more Dexter, work on my novel for my frankly very strange writing class, and try to fix my crazy sleep schedule by staying up for another sixteen hours. Becoming pretty much nocturnal + watching nonstop television about serial killers = not such a great combination.
