yeah, it's that fandom meme.
The one who seduced you and screwed you over and broke your heart in a million pieces and laughed about it.
Merlin. Goddammit.
The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp in the sheets.
Harry Potter.
The mysterious dark one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3a.m. at weird coffeehouses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized he really was fucking crazy.
The X-Files. I was so young then.
The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor, and whom you'd still really like to get with again although you're relieved she doesn't actually live in town.
Stargate Atlantis. I had quite the AU hangover.
The steady.
Doctor Who. You know I love you, baby.
The alluring stranger whom you've flirted with at parties but have never gotten really serious with.
Community. Cool. Cool cool cool.
The one you hang out with and have vague fantasies about maybe having a thing with but ultimately you're just good buddies 'cause the friendship is there but the chemistry ain't.
Vampire Diaries. I just need a little space right now. It's not you, it's Damon.
The one your friends keep introducing you to and who seems like a hell of a cool guy except it's never really gone anywhere.
X-Men: First Class. Though I am a little in love with Charles.
The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep looking at them and thinking, "how the hell did they land all these cool people?"
Torchwood. Sometimes I feel so alone.
The one who gave you the best damned summer of your life and who you measure all other potential partners against.
Star Trek 09. Oh, those summer nights.
The one you recently met at a party and would like to get to know better and who you think you might have a crush on.
White Collar. Boys are pretty.
The old flame that you wouldn't totally object to hooking up with again for a one night romp if only he cleaned himself up a bit.
The West Wing. Put on a fresh shirt, Josh. Jesus.
Your hot new flame.
Sherlock. But he knows that everything else is transport.
The one who stole your boyfriend.
Inception. Tramp.
Merlin. Goddammit.

But Merlin fandom is fantastic. And I'm hooked enough to keep watching the show regardless, so maybe it will prove me wrong.
I would give a thousand million billion pieces of my heart for you to write Merlin fic.
I did write one once (http://rosa-acicularis.livejournal.com/27954.html#cutid1), and it is one of my favorite things I've ever written. Given the right idea, I might be tempted to write another. ;)

Your fic - oh god, I remember that! That was you! OF COURSE THAT WAS YOU, who else would it be?
I have approximately seventeen thousand ideas for fic on a weekly basis. (This is a trufax scientific number I have arrived at utilizing maths.) But it's true, the show's willful abandonment of preestablished development and foreshadowing really puts a damper on canon-based inspiration. I have had a crash course in how to ignore canon wholesale with this fandom like I've never had anywhere else, even more than in Doctor Who where time doesn't matter and everything literally happened in an alternate universe.

Torchwood. Sometimes I feel so alone.
YANA, dude, YANA: Torchwood is so. Much. Bullshit. I'm watching it these days because people I respect and love told me that season 3 is really good, but holy shit am I suffering as I'm watching those first two seasons. You know, I actually liked Jack in Doctor Who; he was a cool, solar, devil-may-care adventurer (like the male equivalent of River Song), he had some good lines, I honestly liked him. I was HORRIFIED when I watched the first few episodes of Torchwood: OH MY GOD WHAT AN ABSOLUTE DICK. He's horrible! And incompetent. And why the fuck is he emo like that? I can't reconcile this Jack and the one I saw in Doctor Who; in Torchwood he's a hateful and amoral character, I can't stand him. I can't stand his team either, they're not much better than him and they keep doing stuff that defies all logic.
I've read a Sherlock/Torchwood crossover recently where Mycroft calls Jack to his office and audits the Torchwood accounts, pointing out all the instances where Jack behaved like a cock and was an incompetent fuck and demanding explanations about it. It was a brilliant fic. Hurray for Mycroft.

I'm sorry to interrupt, but oh my God I need this in my life. It sounds like perfection.

You're welcome ;)

THIS EXACTLY. As time went on, the other characters started to grow on me (I quite like both Gwen and Ianto now) but the best Jack can do on Torchwood is vaguely annoy me. Weirdly, the quality of the stories does improve as the seasons go on, but Torchwood is always laughably incompetent. It's almost endearing.
(Correction: this one time, Jack makes a Christoper Isherwood joke. It is amazing, and in that one moment I loved him.)

AND THEN THE SHOW. I really liked series 1. It was cheesy, fun, and kind of touching. I loved the character interactions and the improvements characters went through until hello, reset button! Now Arthur is a jerk again who never improves, Morgana's character changes drastically EVERY season, Gwen is a boring saint, and Merlin keeps doing really stupid things but it does't matter because everyone is either knocked out or conveniently looking somewhere else. Feelings, I has them lol Though Arthur and Morgana remain to be very pretty.
STEADY FOR WHO IS SO ME!
