waylaid in the din of the day
Sep. 5th, 2007 07:43 pmOh dear.
I have been possessed by the most fierce plot bunny. Actually, given the epic proportions of the story in question, it would be better described as a plot cappybara. A plot walrus. A plot walrus who could do with with a diet and few rides on a stationary exercise bike.
I repeat: oh dear.
Because what I really need to do right now is focus on finishing 'Tomorrow' and 'Heartbreak Hotel', not start a massive post-Doomsday, paradox-tempting Time War multi-story arc involving four different Doctors, a slew of Classic Who companions, Donna, Martha, the Master, and Rose. Not to mention a TARDIS named Larry.
But now it's going to drive me entirely mad, just sitting there in the back of my brain like a sulky, unwritten child. Whenever I try to build up some momentum on 'Tomorrow', it starts poking me in the frontal lobe. "Come on, give us a go," it says. "Jumping fully-formed into your mind like that - I'll be a breeze to write. Few days, tops. You know you wanna."
Well, I've decided that no, I don't. I don't wanna. I'm going to write the stories I'm writing, thank you very much, and the plot walrus can go wriggle off a metaphorical cliff for all I care.
Though I do have a title. A really good one, actually, which is fairly rare for me. And the perfect musical inspiration in the Decemberists' album 'The Crane Wife', which excellently captures the mood and thematic elements I'd like to...
