don't doubt it - i am a retail goddess.

Today was my first day assigned to the DVD section of the store, which has until now been a complete mystery to me. I did all my training on the book floor; I was a little concerned that I wouldn't be able to find anything and would just sort of generally look like a noob. I wandered around nervously for a while, and then, from the ether, a customer appeared:

Me: Hello! Is there anything I can help you find today?

Nondescript Twenty-something Guy: Uh, yeah. There's this British TV show...Doctor Who?

Me: Yes. I'm...familiar.

Guy: I looked around but I couldn't find the DVD of the first episode.

Me: Of the 2005 series or the classic series?

Guy: Um. The classic series?

Me: That would be An Unearthly Child with William Hartnell, the First Doctor. We don't have that episode here, but I'll show you the First Doctor DVDs and DVD box sets we do have. We also have box sets containing serials for the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Doctors, and we have the first season of the 2005 series in stock, if you're interested...

About ten minutes and more than one hundred and fifty dollars in DVDs later...

Guy: Wow. You people are really knowledgeable about your products.

Me: Well, we take customer service very seriously. Did I mention that we also carry Doctor Who soundtrack CDs, novels, and the official Doctor Who magazine?
